The CMA is supervised by the Nurse Manager and ultimately the Director of Clinical Care.This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. In this role, you will partner with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and support staff to provide high-quality primary care, HIV specialty care, and HIV prevention services, including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).This is more than a clinical position—it's an opportunity to become a trusted advocate for patients, build meaningful relationships, and help improve health outcomes every day.If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and wants to work for an organization that truly values teamwork, compassion, and excellence, we'd love to meet you.What You'll DoAs a valued member of our clinical team, you will:Welcome patients and create a positive, compassionate experience from check-in through discharge.Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their visit.Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical history, current medications, and patient concerns.Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants during examinations and procedures.Perform phlebotomy and collect, process, and prepare laboratory specimens.Administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed by licensed providers.Perform patient triage and help ensure patients receive timely care.Return patient phone calls within 24 hours while providing professional, compassionate communication.Schedule appointments for providers, laboratory services, and follow-up care.Process referrals and coordinate care with internal and external healthcare partners.Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).Authorize medication refills according to provider direction and established protocols.Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.Support patients receiving HIV treatment and individuals participating in HIV prevention (PrEP) services with dignity, compassion, and respect.Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and clinical equipment to ensure a clean, safe environment.Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.Participate in quality improvement initiatives that help enhance patient care and clinic performance.Assist with additional clinical and administrative responsibilities that support excellent patient care.What Makes You SuccessfulThe ideal candidate is someone who:Enjoys building trusting relationships with patients.Is bilingual and communicates confidently with diverse patient populations.Remains calm, organized, and efficient in a busy clinical setting.Takes initiative and works independently while also being a dependable team player.Pays close attention to detail and maintains accurate documentation.Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and respect in every patient interaction.Is passionate about delivering equitable, high-quality healthcare.Embraces continuous learning and professional growth.QualificationsRequiredCurrent Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.Fluency in both English and Spanish (preferred).Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.PreferredExperience in primary care, infectious disease, HIV specialty care, or community health.Experience administering vaccines and performing clinical procedures.Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and patient-centered care models.Why You'll Love Working HereWe believe great patient care starts with taking care of our team.When you join us, you'll become part of a collaborative, mission-driven organization where every employee makes a meaningful difference.
