A day in this role

When your crew arrives, you already have the plan loaded in your CMMS. Preventive work orders are queued in MaintainX (or a similar platform), parts are staged, and safety briefings are complete. You allocate technicians across priorities—one team tackling an industrial electrical fault, another performing DOT-compliant checks on fleet assets, and a specialist repairing a hydraulic line on heavy equipment. You coach, you inspect, you verify that repairs meet cost estimates and job specs, and you ensure every task aligns with Federal, State, and local codes and company safety policies. By shift’s end, records are updated, KPIs are reviewed, and the shop floor reflects strong 5S discipline.

What you will lead

• Direct, schedule, and guide a team of Maintenance Mechanics/Technicians across mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and industrial electric specialties.
• Plan, assign, and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance; track all work digitally (MaintainX or comparable system).
• Conduct performance reviews, coach team members, and administer discipline when needed.
• Construct, rebuild, and repair equipment to job specifications while adhering to repair cost estimates.
• Act in an advisory safety capacity to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and best practices.
• Champion and sustain 5S standards throughout maintenance work areas.
• Oversee purchasing, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment; troubleshoot issues and execute repairs.
• Estimate labor and material requirements; obtain competitive quotes for tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, and work orders.
• Operate light trucks to pick up and deliver equipment and materials as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance; follow Company Safety policies and standards; perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge you bring

• Expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding systems.
• Workforce scheduling, layout, and job assignment methods.
• Safety practices, regulations, and the technical aspects of maintenance disciplines.
• Proper storage of equipment, materials, and supplies; basic record-keeping techniques.
• Trade tools, equipment, and methods for skilled and general maintenance and equipment repair.

• Perform broad journey-level maintenance and equipment repair.
• Prioritize, schedule, assign, and review team work to meet timelines.
• Train and direct personnel working on mobile and plant equipment.
• Interpret and apply relevant codes, rules, and regulations.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively; interpret and communicate work orders.
• Follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
• Make accurate calculations; work independently; maintain routine records.
• Build effective working relationships; practice legal and defensive driving.
• Operate vehicles; perform heavy physical labor and lift heavy objects.

Education & experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of five (5) years in one or more skilled trades.
• Valid state driver’s license.
