About the Women's Reproductive HealthPsychiatrist Position The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and BehaviorSciences at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking a boardcertified/board eligible Psychiatrist to join our clinical facultyand serve on our clinical / clinical research team in the Women’sReproductive Mental Health of Texas (WRMH) program in Austin,Texas. Student loan forgiveness is available for faculty of theDepartment of Psychiatry through the Texas Mental HealthProfessionals Loan Repayment Program. We seek a physician with a comprehensive approach to psychiatriccare who will help our Department and the WRMH achieve our goal ofworking with our community partners to develop clinical,educational and research initiatives that honor the growingcommunity of central Texas while revolutionizing how women get andstay mentally healthy proximate to reproductive life events thatare unique to women including preconception planning, pregnancy andthe postpartum period, and the perimenopausal transition. The psychiatrist provides consultation, initial evaluations andfollow-up treatment for women struggling with mental health issuesin a collaborative, multi-disciplinary and team-oriented approach.Depending on leadership skills, the candidate may progress toclinical and/or academic leadership positions. We seek candidates committed to providing informed care thatrestores hope, and helps patients live healthier, fuller lives.Clinical assignments will occur in our clinic at the University ofTexas Health Austin on the campus of Dell Medical School andthrough our department's collaborations with Local Mental HealthAuthorities and community clinics, with the physician providingclinical care primarily in an outpatient setting. The successful candidate's appointment within the Department ofPsychiatry and Behavior Sciences at Dell Medical School requiresregular participation in educational activities with fellows,residents, medical students and other trainees. In addition, thephysician will have the opportunity for collaboration that allowsfor the pursuit of innovative clinical programming, education, andresearch initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide informed clinical care to women proximate tochild-bearing and other reproductive life events unique to women,extending the WRMH's outreach to underserved communities inTexas. Work with Dell Medical School leadership, faculty colleaguesand other clinical staff to develop excellence in service andclinical care and ensure expansive access to care for the growingcommunity in Texas. Teach fellows, residents, medical students, and other traineesin addition to implementing novel training programs pertinent toreproductive psychiatry in a multidisciplinary context. Develop and foster an atmosphere of scientific and academicinquiry in conjunction with trainees and researchers within themultidisciplinary team. Conduct scholarly work, an expectation of all Dell MedicalSchool faculty. Examples of scholarly work include, but are notlimited to, publishing work in high-impact journals, presentingwork at national and international meetings, and working with careproviders and health care delivery networks to implement researchin practice. Facilitate research initiatives, such as, participantrecruitment, conduction of clinical research, and dissemination ofnew learning and innovations. Collaborate with other schools at The University of Texas atAustin and across The University of Texas system. Actively participate in the activities of the Department ofPsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and abide by all requiredDepartmental policies. Other responsibilities and clinical duties as assigned.
