Field Service Engineer

Field Service Engineer – Northern Indiana (covering surrounding states). As a result of the combination of the BD Biosciences and Diagnostic Solutions business with Waters Corporation, this role is with Waters, a global leader in life sciences dedicated to accelerating the benefits of pioneering science through analytical technologies, informatics, and service. **This is a Field Service position – not Desktop Support or IT.** Daily travel to multiple customer sites is required. The FSE is responsible for complex troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation including lasers, optical pathways, fluidic systems, pneumatic systems, electronic systems, and PCs. Responsibilities Install and service instrumentation with minimal supervision, following ISO and GMP standards. Document all service activities in compliance with GMP requirements and follow up with customers to verify satisfaction. Maintain proper car stock inventory, test equipment, tools, and technical documentation; manage company vehicle usage according to fleet policy. Control service-related expenses, including travel and site‑visit costs, and manage spare parts inventory. Report quality control and technical problems to the Service Center and System Support Engineering Manager. Coordinate with other departments and managers to resolve customer issues promptly and thoroughly. Represent BD/Waters by maintaining excellent customer relations and upholding company standards of appearance, ethics, and professionalism. Minimum Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting instruments or components. Valid driver’s license; ability to travel 50% of the working time. Physical ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Good communication skills and ability to work independently on-site. Preferred Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical/biological discipline. Prior Field Service Engineer experience, especially with medical devices or similar technical equipment. Experience with flow cytometry technology. Experience in customer‑facing roles and ability to manage client expectations. Proficiency with diagnostic tools (digital voltmeter, oscilloscope), MS Office, and familiarity with both Mac and PC operating systems. Location and Travel Primary work location: Northern Indiana (Northern Indiana and surrounding states). A minimum of 4 days per week in the office is required for most roles; field‑based positions may have different arrangements. Vaccination against COVID‑19 may be required for some locations.
