About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Active Virginia or Compact License required upon start Certifications: ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (expires), BLS Must-Have: Charge experience preferred, Cerner preferred Description: This position involves caring for intermediate care patients. The population includes a mix of medical-surgical, telemetry, cardiac, and neuro patients. Charge responsibilities may be required, and appropriate pay differentials and training will be provided. Travelers must work at least one major holiday, specifically Christmas Day and/or New Year's Day. Block scheduling is no longer available, but weekend-only requests will be considered. The unit tries to follow a schedule of 2 out of 3 weekends per month, but this may vary based on unit needs. Travelers are expected to contribute to a supportive culture, particularly when interacting with students and new hires. The facility supports a teaching environment where collaboration and support are essential. Cancellations may occur up to 36 hours before an assignment due to patient census needs. A skills checklist and copy of nursing license must be provided. Requests for time off must be included during the application process. Additional experience with charge nursing is preferred, as well as familiarity with the Cerner system. Travelers must explain any gaps in work history exceeding 90 days.
