Senior Accountant – Distribution Industry Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, flexible Salary: $95,000–$105,000 + discretionary year-end bonus Our client is a rapidly growing national distribution company with a strong track record of expansion through organic growth and acquisitions. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing accounting and finance team. About the Role The Senior Accountant will support month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and accounting operations, with a particular focus on inventory and gross margin accounts . This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large datasets, solving complex accounting issues, and improving processes in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Review general ledger activity and prepare month-end journal entries and account analyses. Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations. Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, and variances. Research and resolve account discrepancies. Perform variance and flux analysis and investigate material fluctuations. Work cross-functionally with AP, Payroll, FP&A, and Operations. Support interim and annual audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation. Assist with accounting process and internal control documentation. Help implement best practices to streamline and scale accounting processes. Participate in system implementations, special projects, and ad hoc financial analyses. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; Finance or Computer Science with accounting coursework will also be considered. 3+ years of accounting experience ; a combination of public accounting and corporate experience is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP . Advanced Excel skills and experience working with very large datasets. Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar data analytics tools is a plus. Strong experience with reconciliations, schedules, process improvement, and variance analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently. Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented with a willingness to jump in and support colleagues. AS/400 and Sage experience is a plus. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent organizational skills who takes initiative and stays on top of their work.
