Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:

• Certification from either the Registry for the Deaf or the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Experience working with children, especially in educational settings
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
• Willingness to complete fingerprint-based background checks
• Flexibility and adaptability for varying student communication preferences

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services in classrooms and during all school-related programs, meetings, and events
• Attend and interpret Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings as needed
• Offer instructional support and tutoring under classroom teacher guidance
• Support administrative tasks, including recordkeeping and reporting
• Aid in student management, including de-escalation during crises
• Inform teachers about student needs and communicate relevant observations
• Engage in professional development and participate in faculty meetings and special events
• Maintain punctual attendance and perform additional duties as assigned

Work will be based at Dean Leaman Jr. High School in Fulshear and Foster High School in Richmond, serving 1-2 students per assignment. Schedules typically run weekdays 9am–4:30pm, with occasional extra-curricular hours.
