Treatment Plant -Outside Sales Representative - East

Job Summary Based in St.Louis, Core&Main seeks a Outside Sales Representative to profitably grow sales in core and emerging industries. The role focuses on large‑scale water, wastewater, and critical infrastructure projects, specifically treatment plants. The position requires substantial field engagement, technical aptitude, and project scope management from pre‑bid design through delivery. Key Responsibilities Project & Scope Management : Manage project workloads for treatment plant and critical infrastructure projects; present customer‑provided material lists and complete bill‑of‑material packages; coordinate multi‑stage shipments to align with construction schedules; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and execution throughout each project lifecycle. Technical Expertise & Solution Support : Apply strong knowledge of water, wastewater, and civil/mechanical processes; support customers with product recommendations, technical clarifications, and system‑level solutions; maintain expertise in core product categories including PVF (pipe, valves, fittings), HDPE, and fusion equipment, operators, actuators, and related plant components. Quotation & Drafting Collaboration : Partner with internal quotation, estimating, and pre‑bid manager teams on plant‑specific scopes, detailed infrastructure material takeoffs, and design‑build support packages; deliver accurate, comprehensive, and timely proposals. Business Development & Market Expansion : Identify new opportunities across water, wastewater, and municipal ecosystems; develop relationships with engineering firms, public agencies, and major developers; attend industry events, associations, and trade shows to expand presence and pipeline; conduct market research to identify growth opportunities within the region. Customer Relationship Management : Serve as the primary point of contact for plant‑related and infrastructure accounts; maintain deep, consultative relationships that drive long‑term loyalty; act as a trusted resource for technical guidance, product sourcing, and project planning. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of industry‑related outside sales experience (waterworks, civil, mechanical, or distribution). Experience supporting large infrastructure or plant environments (water/wastewater treatment and industrial civil projects). Strong technical aptitude; engineering background, especially civil, is a plus. Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, material lists, and engineered designs. Demonstrated ability to manage complex scopes and multi‑phase projects. Strong determination to be a successful outside sales representative. Additional Requirements Must operate a company or personal vehicle for more than 20% of the average work week. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is required and must be acceptable.
