Role details Post: Tobacco Control Practitioner Band: AFC 5 Hours: 36 per week Contract: Fixed term 24 months – until 1st April 2028 Location: Based at Pennywell All Care Centre with travel across Edinburgh to deliver smoking cessation services and engage a variety of partners and agencies. Department The department is organised around Population Health and Health Protection. The postholders will work within a Population Health Team focusing on place-based working, partnership, prevention, and addressing inequalities. Reducing harms from smoking is a key priority for Scotland as we work toward a smokefree nation over the next decade. NHS Lothian is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Quit Your Way team and help improve performance in supporting people to quit smoking. Responsibilities Deliver direct smoking cessation services and provide support to individuals and groups wanting to quit smoking. Engage a variety of partners and enhance outcomes through strong communication and influencing skills. Influence the healthcare workforce and partner agencies to boost engagement with Quit Your Way services. Travel across Edinburgh to deliver services and engage with partners and agencies as required. Requirements and eligibility To work in the United Kingdom, demonstrate the relevant permission to work in the country as required by UK law. Will support disabled candidates and those with long-term conditions or neurodivergence through reasonable adjustments during recruitment. Post requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application to Disclosure Scotland must be deemed satisfactory before starting. From 1 April 2025, changes to criminal records checks may apply.
