Human Resources Assistant

Human Resources Assistant Support people, processes, and a mission that matters. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support the daily work of our Human Resources team. This role provides hands-on experience in recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, recordkeeping, and HR administration. Physical and Work Environment Requirements This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based work, occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds, and the ability to work in an environment where animals and allergens such as pet dander, dust, and airborne particles may be present. - 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- On-site position
- Support recruiting by posting open positions, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting with hiring events.
- Help coordinate new employee onboarding, orientation, and employment paperwork.
- Maintain employee records and enter information accurately into HRIS systems.
- Assist with training coordination, tracking, and recordkeeping.
- Provide administrative support for HR projects, employee engagement efforts, and day-to-day department needs.
- Handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Education or coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in HR, administrative support, or a related role required.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort learning HRIS systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in supporting employees and the organizational needs.
