Development ManagerThe Development Manager is vital to growing community support as Food Bank of the Rockies deepens relationships with community partners and grows its base through meaningful philanthropic engagement.The Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Development and Community Relations with designing and executing the development strategy for Food Bank of the Rockies Western Slope Distribution Center and the 13 counties we serve. This position is responsible for conducting donor prospect research, as well as cultivating and stewarding a diverse portfolio of relationships including individuals, foundations, and corporate donors. The Development Manager is responsible for the identification of local grant opportunities and supports the Grants team with applications and reports. This position represents the work of Food Bank of the Rockies to enhance fundraising efforts through community engagement and presentation opportunities.What You'll DoDevelopment Support: 40%Oversee the daily management of donor gifts and delegate stewardship across the team to ensure accuracy and compliance with donor intent and organizational standardsReview revenue and donation reports to ensure accuracy, working with the Director of Development & Community Relations and Denver Data Development Team to maintain clean donor recordsSupport the Director of Development & Community Relations by providing leadership and oversight for the implementation of development strategies across the Western SlopeRepresent Food Bank of the Rockies' mission with genuine passion and professionalism, including participation at community presentations and eventsProvide support with data requests for donors, partners and development outreach strategiesPerform campaign analysis for development initiatives by determining KPIs and trackable metricsParticipate in Direct Mail initiatives by reviewing donor messaging and donor segmentationWork closely with marketing and development staff to manage and deliver sponsorship benefits, ensuring fulfillment of partnership agreementsDonor Relations: 25%Actively manage a mixed portfolio of donors and prospects (individual, corporate, foundation, association, government), including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardshipManage and implement sponsorship/recognition strategies for donors and ensure deliverables are metOversee the Feed365 monthly donor program, including record keeping, outreach, retention, and recognition strategiesSupport the team by performing and encouraging meaningful donor actions that move relationships forward and provide a positive donor experienceMeet goals by measurement of meaningful interactions, including phone, in-person, and email conversations for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitations from corporate supporters and event attendees, and individual supportConduct donor prospect research to identify new giving opportunitiesCorporate Engagement:25%Cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate donor and sponsor relationships across the Western Slope service areaLead planning and execution of the annual Corporate Challenge, including recruitment, coordination, and recognition of participating businessesSecure cash and in-kind support for key programs, mobile pantries, and community eventsLaunch and oversee special initiatives focused on strategic partnerships and innovation in corporate givingRepresent Food Bank of the Rockies at corporate donor meetingsPrepare correspondence and talking points to support corporate engagement effortsCreate, manage, and grow workplace giving, matching gifts, and peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities with corporate partnersOther Support: 10%Work as a cross-functional team member to promote Food Bank of the Rockies brand/message to potential donors, the community, and staffProvide work assignments for Development volunteers and internsHandle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or othersHow the Work Gets DoneInstills Trust: Provides consistent communication about development efforts across the team, acting as a resource for information and support regarding community engagement efforts.Collaborates: Works across departments when needed to find ways to deepen engagement for our donors and volunteers.Customer-Centric Focus: Consistently puts the donor front of mind by understanding their perspective. Treats co-workers with respect and understanding while willing to support whatever needs arise.Ensures Accountability: Adheres to development standards for fundraising activities ensuring all deadlines are met with a high attention to the work quality.What We're Looking ForHigh School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferredThree years or more fundraising experience preferredExtensive experience in Raiser's Edge or another fundraising database; knowledge and experience in Blackbaud's Team Raiser is highly desiredProficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, OutlookCommitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of the Rockies mission and positively representing the brandAbility to build highly collaborative partnerships with Food Bank of the Rockies staff, community, and potential fundersKnowledge of best practices in development, including moves management and individual solicitation, cause marketing, event planning, corporate partnerships, and promotionsStrong communication skills that are effective across a variety of constituenciesExcellent organizational and prioritization skills, project management, and ability to multi-task multiple assignmentsHigh customer service focusTeam player with a positive attitudeWork Environment:Sitting and standing for long periods, walking intermittentlyUsing office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, printerIndoor office environment, frequently; outdoor work environment occasionallyFrequent travel within the Food Bank of the Rockies service area (up to 50%)Occasionally lift or move up to 25 poundsExpected Hours of Work:This is a full-time, exempt role working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays and should maintain Food Bank of the Rockies core hours of 8am – 4pm.
