Medical Laboratory Technologist

This position involves a night shift schedule of 7 on, 7 off, from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Training will occur on the day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM for 2-3 weeks, specifically in the Hematology Department.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Strong background in blood bank experience is essential.
• Support and communicate laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
• Collect, process, and receive specimens, including blood, urine, fecal samples, and body fluids for analysis across all clinical laboratory departments.
• Evaluate and solve problems related to the collection and processing of biological specimens for patients of all ages.
• Participate in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory, considering personnel, equipment, cost, and establishment of reference intervals; responsible for writing and revising technical procedures.
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, analyze, and correct issues utilizing scientific principles.
• Analyze quality control data, make judgments regarding results, and take appropriate actions to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Respond to inquiries about test results, methodologies, test specificity and sensitivity, as well as specific factors influencing test results.
• Review all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for various laboratory departments.
• Maintain self-competency in laboratory skills.

Bachelor's degree required (or Associate's Degree for grandfathered personnel).

• Current CLS or MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent is necessary.
• New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of the employment start date.

Holiday coverage is required.
