Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for an interim Sr. Accountant to join our team to support our healthcare organization client in Torrance, California on a Contract assignment. This role will provide essential accounting support during a leave coverage period for 2+ months on a hybrid schedule while helping the team maintain accuracy and momentum through a demanding year-end close. The position is well suited for a self-directed, detail-oriented individual who can manage detailed financial work, collaborate across departments, and thrive in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations, including transactions involving related entities and internal accounts.

• Prepare, review, and record journal entries that support timely and accurate month-end financial reporting.

• Contribute to an accelerated close calendar by organizing deliverables, resolving discrepancies, and meeting strict deadlines.

• Evaluate account activity and explain period-over-period changes through clear variance analysis for leadership review.

• Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance, and operational partners to research and correct accounting issues.

• Support cash-related and tax-related accounting entries and reconciliations when additional coverage is needed.

• Communicate findings, reconciled balances, and financial explanations to accounting leaders and business stakeholders.

• Assist with year-end close execution and provide dependable accounting coverage through the contract period.

• Participate in accounting tasks connected to evolving business operations and integration-related activities as required.

• At least five years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of general ledger activity and month-end close processes.

• Demonstrated success performing detailed account reconciliations in a high-volume environment.

• Solid understanding of journal entries, accruals, balance sheet analysis, and financial variance review.

• Advanced Excel capabilities, including the use of PivotTables for analysis and reporting.

• Ability to handle multiple deadlines independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence working across management and cross-functional teams.

• Experience in fast-paced close environments is preferred.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365, large-company reporting tools, intercompany accounting, bank reconciliations, cash accounting, or tax entries is a plus.

• Exposure to HFM/Hyperion or large corporate reporting environments.
