Collections Specialist

Collections SpecialistBDG is looking for a detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role owns the accounts receivable collections process end-to-end — from monitoring aging balances to resolving disputes and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. You'll play a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow and minimizing bad debt across BDG's advertising and media partnerships.What You'll DoManage the full collections cycle for outstanding client invoices, prioritizing by aging and riskProactively contact clients via phone and email to secure timely payment and resolve outstanding balancesMonitor and maintain accurate accounts receivable aging reports; flag at-risk accounts earlyInvestigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short-pays, and disputes in partnership with Sales, Ad Ops, and Client ServicesReconcile customer accounts and apply payments accurately in the accounting systemPartner cross-functionally with Sales and Account Management on client payment terms, credit holds, and escalationsPrepare regular collections status reports and aging summaries for Finance leadershipRecommend accounts for write-off or collections agency referral when appropriate, following BDG policySupport month-end close activities related to AR, including bad debt reserve analysisIdentify process improvements to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and improve collections efficiencyWhat You'll Bring2–5 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit and collections, ideally in media, advertising, or a similarly fast-paced industryStrong communication and negotiation skills — comfortable having direct, professional conversations with clients about paymentSolid understanding of AR processes, aging methodology, and basic accounting principlesExperience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar); NetSuite experience a plusProficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for tracking, reporting, and reconciliationHighly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of accounts simultaneouslyA problem-solver who can navigate disputes calmly and find win-win resolutionsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)$80,000 - $90,000 a year BDG Media Inc. is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
