Sr Epic Clinical Pharmacy Applications Analyst

Job Summary The Senior Epic Clinical Pharmacy Application Analyst works on the build, implementation, and maintenance of information technology utilizing expertise in Epic Applications. The role optimizes pharmacy practices, collaborates with organizational leaders on medication management processes, and conducts intermediate to advanced analysis of current workflows and change management strategies. The Analyst provides project management support, leads project teams, coordinates work assignments, resolves complex problems, performs advanced ongoing analysis, and mentors peers. The analyst also advises on best clinical medication management practices and supports Epic Willow functionality. Job Description Desired Skillsets Epic Willow experience preferred Knowledge of medication build, formulary management, and order set configuration Understanding of synonyms, dispense codes, orderables, and NDC mapping Experience with dispense prep, alerts build/maintenance, and pharmacy workflows Familiarity with Pyxis, interfaces, ServiceNow, and pharmacy systems support Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and support complex projects in a fast‑paced healthcare environment Minimum Qualifications Pharm D. degree required Current license to practice as a registered pharmacist Epic Certification required within 120 days of beginning EPIC curriculum/training At least four (4) years of pharmacy experience with at least one (1) year in Healthcare Management Information Systems (MIS) or related system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation Preferred: Four (4) years with working knowledge of the medication use process Experience implementing large and complex Information Systems in a healthcare environment, change management, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement methods, data analysis tools, decision support tools, and electronic health records Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience required Experience supporting complex problems Advanced knowledge of information technology and Microsoft Office tools; working knowledge of Microsoft Visio or equivalent workflow documentation tool Strong customer relationship management skills for efficient problem resolution and customer satisfaction Ability to translate concepts into action and demonstrate a pattern of growth in leadership of analysts Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Epic or other EHR support, development tools, and methodologies Good planning, organizational, communication, collaboration, and customer service skills Principal Accountabilities Data Information and Knowledge Management Manages medication‑related information while promoting integration, interoperability, and information exchange. Maintains data, information, and knowledge assets across Epic and all other supported systems that support medication management. Technical Administration Supports Epic Application Analysts and Lead Epic Application Analysts with in‑depth knowledge. Provides technical knowledge for software applications (including Epic) across various system environments. Performs intermediate to advanced analysis, design, build, test, and implementation of Epic Applications and supporting computer programs and systems. Demonstrates and applies information systems theory, processes, and methodologies. Information and Knowledge Delivery Delivers medication‑related information and knowledge throughout the clinical knowledge lifecycle, embedding knowledge into workflow. Analyzes data for performance evaluation, process improvement, reporting, and predicting new information to create knowledge for improved outcomes. Leverages knowledge within provider workflow to improve caregiver effectiveness, job satisfaction, patient satisfaction, and quality of care. Continually optimizes clinical decision support use and develops tools to reduce information overload and provider burden. Applied Clinical Informatics Applies user experiences, research, and theoretical informatics principles to improve clinical practice and usability. Delivers informatics research principles and best practices to the bedside in collaboration with multiple disciplines to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of medication‑management systems. Leadership and Management of Change Leads and participates in procurement, development, implementation, customization, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems. Ensures that Epic and other integrated applications support safe and effective medication use while managing risks and change associated with implementation. Supports all requests for projects, service requests, and problem tickets through established channels with minimum supervision. Process Implementation Develops, prioritizes, and executes projects according to established schedules and timeframes while providing counsel and guidance to promote best practices. Maintains an effective level of coordination on all assigned projects. Plans, organizes, and assists in implementations and infrastructure required to support Epic and other applications, aligning with current and future technology needs and supporting business goals. Clinical Development Seeks input from physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, implement solutions, and communicate findings to leadership. Designs, develops, analyzes, and evaluates system‑wide clinical pharmacy programs that support organizational goals and provide high‑quality, safe, cost‑effective clinical pharmacy services. Problem Solving Identifies issues, seeks input from leadership, and develops options and recommendations to resolve operational problems quickly and minimize impact on end‑user productivity. Communication Maintains good communication lines between campus administration, user departments, and Information Services, promoting division credibility and value. Time Management Provides high‑quality technology and change‑management consulting services in a timely manner, maintaining high standards. Reports weekly activity status to manager or director on projects and assignments. Customer Service Provides courteous, polite and friendly service to all staff and supports teamwork. Professional Development Promotes individual growth by meeting mandatory or continuing education requirements and supporting department goals; serves as preceptor and mentor. Other Ensures patient, staff, and visitor safety and adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
