Mechanical Technician - Central State Hospital

Job Description Central State Hospital is seeking a full‑time Mechanical Technician – HVAC. The position requires a 6:00am – 4:30pm shift, 10‑hour days, with a flexible Monday‑Friday schedule. Responsibilities Inspect, repair, and maintain all HVAC controls, machinery, fixtures, and equipment—including electrical controls, refrigerant piping, valves, connections, fittings, couplings, chilled and hot water pumps, air handlers, refrigeration equipment, air compressors, air dryers, thermostats, and humidistats. Perform de‑scale tubing, cut and thread pipe, and make pipe and electrical connections. Execute other duties as assigned to meet department demands, including general maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry, flooring installation/repair, ceiling tile installation/repair, locksmith duties, and landscaping. Be available for emergency calls and work as needed. Requirements Journeyman HVAC license or an Associate’s degree in HVAC/refrigeration. Valid driver’s license. High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years experience in automation HVAC controls or refrigeration repairs. Knowledge of refrigeration systems or HVAC controls, and familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
