Senior Accountant

Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 12 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to perform complex accounting and financial analysis assignments. The successful candidate will support the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, develop meaningful financial analytics, and contribute to overall financial management.

This role will also evaluate accounting processes and systems, recommend improvements, review account reconciliations, and provide guidance and training to accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex accounting and financial analysis assignments.
• Support the preparation, accuracy, and integrity of financial statements.
• Develop and interpret financial analytics to support business and financial decision-making.
• Analyze financial data and prepare meaningful variance analysis.
• Review and approve account reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, processes, and procedures.
• Recommend and implement process improvements where appropriate.
• Retrieve and analyze financial data from ERP systems and Business Intelligence platforms.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to accounting staff.
• Support financial management through reporting, analysis, and other accounting-related initiatives.
• Communicate financial findings and recommendations effectively to management and stakeholders.
• Ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 5–7 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret variance analysis.
• Experience retrieving and analyzing data from ERP systems and Business Intelligence software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
  • PivotTables
  • VLOOKUP
  • Macros
  • Other advanced Excel functions
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and management teams.
