FHA underwriter

The expected base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the underwriting of residential loans, reviewing credit documentation and underwriting files to FHA guidelines (DE approved). Examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness while working with loan originators or production staff to secure all required documents. May be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government‑backed, etc.). Work with more senior mortgage underwriters on loan exceptions, with authority to withdraw and decline loans. Respond directly to individual and investor audits. Critically examine credit, income and asset documents, review title policy and appraisals. Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required. Skills and Competencies Time management skills and ability to prioritize workload based on daily production. Experience with underwriting to multiple lender guidelines and requirements, knowledge of Fannie Mae/DU and Freddie Mac/LP guidelines and AUS. Strong knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (QM, ATR, RESPA, ECOA, AIR, etc.). Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail. Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy.
