Qualified individuals with at least 8+ years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.General CharacteristicsIndependently applies extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.Modifies or extends accepted theories and practices of civil engineering to complete assignments.Acts in responsible charge of projects.Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scopes.Develops plans, specifications, and other project documents.Selects appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in a complex civil engineering problem.Values and applies ethical behavior in the practice of civil engineering.Ability to pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.Demonstrates a strong work ethic.Proactive approach/self-starter/takes initiative/positive attitude/team player.Critical Tasks and ResponsibilitiesProject ManagementManage workload of other engineering staffStaff performance reviewsMeet with clients regarding work and performance of team, and regarding current and future workPursue/Acquire work with clients.Write and review proposals and scopes of workNegotiate work with clientsPrepare project concepts through final design plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) bid packagesPerform Quality Assurance and Quality ControlSolve design problems using engineering calculations and following general design standardsPrepare complete engineering reports related to civil site improvements, storm drainage, water distribution and transmission systems, pumping systems, pipelines, utilities, streets and roadways, bikeways, sanitary sewer collection systems, and water and wastewater facilitiesPrepare project drawings/designs in AutoCAD Civil3DProvide comments and markups to PS&E documents.Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D to establish horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross sections, and perform earthwork calculationsServe on project teams under the supervision of CWE Project/Program Managers and/or Directors/PrincipalsComplete assignments on time and within budget and achieve firm's quality objectivesInteract with public and private clients and stakeholdersInteract with multi-discipline and multi-office teamsDevelops and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.Typically, in responsible charge of projects.Keeps informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices.Analyzes complex civil engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints.Acknowledges and applies concepts of sustainability to civil engineering projects.Required Competencies and Qualifications8+ Years of Experience in Civil Engineering or related field.Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or other Bachelor's degree with 12+ years' Architect-Engineering (AE) industry experience.California Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil Engineering, or 12+ years of AE experience.Ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D softwareProficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.).Ability to use ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or related geospatial softwareProficient in PDF software, such as Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc.Abilities to grasp and become proficient in new software and technologiesAbility to pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.Demonstrates a strong work ethic.Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.Proactive approach/self-starter/takes initiativePositive attitude/team playerAbility to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.Valid California driver's license and insurable driving recordDesired Competencies and QualificationsMS, PhD or other advanced degree(s) in related fields.Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP)Member of professional practice organization (e.g. ASCE, ACEC, APWA, etc..)Involved, organizes, and/or leads outreach and service activities with community service organizations
