Emergency Communications Center Supervisor

Position Summary The Emergency Communications Center Supervisor supports safe and efficient operations in the Emergency Communication Center (ECC). The ECC Supervisor provides real-time oversight, frontline leadership, and staff support, while managing staff utilization and serving as an escalation point for complex transfers, surge events, and system disruptions. The ECC Supervisor supports the unit in oversight of a QA/QI process, policy and procedure oversight, training development, and problem solving/process improvement. Key Responsibilities Collaborates in development, revision, and implementation of operational policies and procedures specific to the Emergency Communications Center. Involves weekend or after‑hours work to support operational changes, possibly one weekend or less per month. Supports the development, implementation, and ongoing support of ECC Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement programs. Oversees and provides support to training teams; coordinates interdepartmental training of ETCs and serves as a designated educator. Assists manager in response to inquiries and complaints by investigating concerns and providing performance feedback and coaching. Organizes and oversees administrative tasks to include making weekly update communications, unit meeting agenda, unit meeting presentation, and unit meeting minutes. Supports department manager in oversight of the department and problem‑solving management tasks. Ensures equipment is available and operational, prioritizes repairs/maintenance, schedules equipment for repair/maintenance, and coordinates replacements for malfunctioning equipment. Required Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent. 2 years of experience working in any communication center. Job‑Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to learn and troubleshoot computer systems and manage relationships with ITG. Demonstrates and understands the implementation of leadership principles and problem‑solving methodology. Demonstrated ability to work in a high‑stress, high‑acuity setting. Demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly and constantly changing work environment. Demonstrated ability to direct and control multiple critical communications events simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to work in a team‑oriented, high‑stress environment with competing priorities, while also working independently. Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills, highly proficient in verbal communications with widely diverse interactions. Demonstrated functional understanding of use in Microsoft Office programs including SharePoint, forms, Teams, and Excel. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 1 year of previous leadership experience. 1 year of experience working within the OHSU ECC. Physical Requirements Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for four continuous hours a day. Ability to hear and understand verbal communication, remain at a workstation for 10+ hours per day, and read, write, and type accurately.
