Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

The Operating Room Registered Nurse initiates a comprehensive plan of care based on medical, surgical, and nursing diagnoses. This position involves collaboration with various departments and personnel to ensure a safe environment and deliver high-quality patient care in the Operating Room (O.R.). The Registered Nurse provides direct care to surgical patients and oversees personnel, ensuring patient safety, availability of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of asepsis.

Location: Mammoth Lakes, CA

What You'll Do:

• Assess and monitor the physical status of patients, collecting and documenting data through interviews, observations, and consultations with healthcare providers.
• Engage in active listening to understand patient needs and perceptions related to their surgical procedures.
• Identify necessary interventions for expected outcomes based on the specific surgical procedures and standards of care.
• Anticipate potential issues and adapt surgical plans, prioritizing tasks during emergencies or changes in patient status.
• Demonstrate competency in creating and maintaining a sterile field and anticipating equipment and supply needs before surgery.
• Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes and reassess patient status, communicating changes and implementing revised care plans as needed.

Qualifications:

• Active State of California Registered Nurse License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• A minimum of two years of experience in an Operating Room setting is required.
• Experience with Cerner and CNOR certification is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments.

Shift Information:

• 12-hour varied shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, including holidays and weekends.
• Call coverage required, with one call shift per week scheduled immediately after regular shifts.
• Holiday coverage is mandatory.

Housing:

Housing may be available depending on availability, conveniently located within walking distance to the hospital.

Specialization:

Strong comfortability with Orthopedics, general surgery, and ENT procedures is essential.
