Litigation Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join a Chicago-based practice. This opportunity is intentionally open to attorneys from a wide range of litigation backgrounds.


Whether your experience is on the plaintiff or defense side, we are interested in speaking with attorneys who have developed strong litigation skills and are comfortable handling cases through the various stages of the litigation process.

Litigation Backgrounds of Interest

Experience may include one or more of the following:

• Civil Litigation
• Commercial & Business Litigation
• Personal Injury and/or Workers Comp
• Insurance Defense
• Construction Litigation
• Real Estate Litigation
• Professional Liability
• Employment Litigation
• Premises Liability
• Product Liability
• Medical Malpractice
• Contract & Business Disputes
• Other complex civil litigation matters

Candidates do not need experience in all of these areas. We are primarily interested in strong litigators whose experience and skills can translate across different types of civil disputes.

Responsibilities

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

• Managing litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
• Handling written discovery and document production
• Taking and defending depositions
• Conducting legal research and developing case strategy
• Appearing for hearings, conferences, and oral arguments
• Working with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other parties
• Negotiating settlements and participating in mediations
• Preparing matters for arbitration and trial
• Handling or assisting with trials

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice in Illinois
• Prior litigation experience
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
• Experience handling substantive responsibility on litigation matters
• Ability to manage cases independently while working collaboratively with other attorneys

Trial experience is welcomed but not required .


We are open to attorneys coming from different practice areas and litigation environments. Candidates with plaintiff, defense, boutique, midsize, or larger-firm experience are encouraged to apply.
