Gas Utility Construction And Service Technician InstructorMoraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Gas Utility Construction and Service Technician Instructor on our Beaver Dam Campus. The Gas Utility, Construction, and Service Technician program is housed in the Energy Education Center that was built in partnership with multiple energy employers. The external training grounds, in addition to digging, boring, and fusing equipment, maintains a training neighborhood of small-scale houses and related equipment. This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet college academic and workforce needs. In addition, this position will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner's classroom and career goals.The successful candidate will have an associate degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, or willing to obtain an Associate Degree from an accredited program. Progress toward an Associate Degree will be measured through the successful completion of a minimum of three (3) credits of coursework annually, beginning with the third year of employment. Must also have two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered.Responsibilities include preparing for and facilitating learning in the assigned courses according to the College's core values, establishing a professional and safe learning environment, meeting student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments, maintaining student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), providing timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development, participating in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum, assisting with student recruitment and proactively promoting the College programs and services offered, promoting retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources, engaging in internal and external College meetings and activities, building and maintaining ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom, actively maintaining proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices, assisting with mentoring faculty, maintaining equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry, and working with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.Experience and qualifications include experience in the following job duties: safe operation of construction equipment and related tools used in the gas utility industry, experience in all processes of joining steel and plastic gas pipelines, knowledge of emergency response training related to the natural gas industry, knowledge of gas appliance relight and safety inspections, experience with gas measurement, including gas metering and gas regulators, experience with underground pipe locating equipment, installation of gas mains and services, the operation and maintenance of the gas pipeline system, install, maintain, and operate natural gas distribution systems used to supply natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers, knowledge of propane systems used to supply propane gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers, knowledge of natural and propane gas appliances used by residential and commercial customers, and various welding processes related to the gas industry. Must be able to prepare students to obtain Class A CDL. OSHA 510 "Train the Trainer" certification; candidates without certification must be able to obtain it within one year of hire.Working knowledge of the following: construction, maintenance, and operation of gas transmission and distribution systems, electrical circuits, protective piping devices, regulatory requirements, troubleshooting theory and practice, venting, ANSI-Z223.1 code, and comparable support activities. Qualified in PE fusion. Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.Desired qualifications include OSHA 30 Cardholder and Operator Qualifications (OQ) Evaluator.Other position requirements include possessing a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License, flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends, this position may require teaching and/or travel to other MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.Hiring range: $68,299-$79,222Starting: June 2026Workplace flexibility: Open campusHours/schedule/travel: 178-day contract June through March
