Responsibilities Dietary Aide Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. The Cook performs a wide variety of tasks and operations to prepare and cook foods for patients, employees and others; stocks and serves on tray line; organizes and assists with dish washing and cleaning operations; stocks storage areas and freezers; assists with inventories. Follows standard practice and procedures and complies with hospital department, regulatory and food service industry requirements for quality and sanitation. Correctly identifies customer groups and strives to exceed customer expectations. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Position Requirements: Education/Experience: High school education or GED required Valid Driver's license strongly preferred. ServSafe Certification preferred. Institutional cooking experience preferred. Must be able to meet physical requirements General Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services. Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm. Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions. Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
