This health system maintains the clinical infrastructure and established protocols necessary to support inpatient neurology coverage, including general and stroke neurology services. The facility operates within a structured inpatient environment staffed by neurologists and designed to facilitate quality neurological care delivery. Up to two advanced practice clinicians may be placed concurrently to fulfill the full-time coverage need.

Southern Alabama offers clinicians on assignment access to a range of outdoor and recreational activities. The Gulf Coast region features white-sand beaches, nature refuges, and water-based recreation, with destinations such as Gulf Shores and Orange Beach serving as notable points of interest. Clinicians may also explore waterfront dining and entertainment, golf courses, nature parks, and family-oriented attractions near Mobile Bay during time away from the assignment.

The neurology physician associate will provide inpatient coverage during day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no night or weekend call required. The scope of work encompasses general and stroke neurology, including daily patient rounding, emergent consults, and responding to stroke alert calls within 15 minutes. Clinical duties include independently conducting neurological and physical examinations, evaluating complex medical histories, formulating differential diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and creating and managing medication plans. Additional responsibilities include ICU rounding as needed, coordinating referrals and discharges, and educating patients and families on diagnoses. The clinician will serve as the sole advanced practice clinician on assignment, working alongside 1-2 neurologists. Board certification, ACLS, BLS, prescriptive authority, and an active state license or IMLC are required.
