Woodworker For The Acquired Brain Injury Day Program
The Woodworker for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Day Program is responsible for planning, facilitating, and supervising woodworking activities for program participants. The role supports rehabilitation, skill development, and therapeutic engagement in a safe, supportive environment tailored to the unique needs of individuals with ABI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement woodworking projects appropriate for adults with varying physical, cognitive, and behavioral abilities.
- Provide hands-on instruction and supervision to participants, always ensuring safety.
- Adapt tools, materials, and processes to meet individual needs and promote accessibility.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., occupational therapists, program coordinators) to align activities with participants' rehabilitation goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free woodworking area.
- Monitor and document participant progress, engagement, and any incidents or concerns.
- Manage inventory of materials and tools, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment.
