Job Description
Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Schedule

Straight Nights, 48 hours/week. Holidays, On-Call, Callback, and Charge per unit as needed.

Assignment Details

No telemetry required.

Requirements

• New York RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans for clients.
• Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
• Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
• Document all patient information on medical charts, following physician's written orders, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
