Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewAnsible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Medical Technologists to support the Reno VA Medical Center located at 975 Kirman Ave, Reno, NV 89502. Shift schedule is typically Sunday-Wednesday 10-hour shifts. To address these challenges, we employ intelligent and committed staff who take care of our customers’ success as if it is their own.ResponsibilitiesPerform a full range of clinical laboratory testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, and Coagulation.Analyze patient specimens and accurately report laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met and document all required laboratory activities.Review, verify, and release test results while maintaining accuracy and timely turnaround times.Perform specimen processing, preparation, handling, and storage according to laboratory protocols.Recognize instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies and take appropriate corrective actions.Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.Maintain accurate records and documentation within the laboratory information system (LIS).Collaborate with laboratory staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education activities as required.Support operational needs of the laboratory, including weekend, holiday, and off-shift coverage as necessary.QualificationsAccredited Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related science (i.E. biology, chemistry, etc.) AND completion of an accredited medical technology clinical practice program (i.E. NAACLS, CAAHEP, ABHES) ORAccredited (NACCLS) Bachelors-level degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related programGraduate from a medical technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)Minimum one (1) year experience within the past five (1) yearsPrevious experience working in a VA laboratory environment is highly preferred.Experience operating any of the following analyzers is strongly preferred:Chemistry: Abbott Alinity ciHematology: SysmexCoagulation: ACL TOPUrinalysis: SysmexBlood Bank: Bio-Rad IH-500Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory medicine techniques and practicesDemonstrated education and clinical training in the practice of laboratory medicineNo sponsorship availableAll candidates must be able to:Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shiftLift up to 50 lbs from floor to waistLift up to 20 lbsCarry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distancePush/pull with 30 lbs of forceAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
