Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description
This role focuses on assembling refrigeration cases and related sub-assemblies such as tanks, canopies, base frames, hardware kits, and plenums. You will read and interpret work orders and assembly instructions, identify and install correct parts, and use hand and power tools to build units to completion as part of a collaborative assembly team.
Responsibilities

• Complete refrigeration cases and partial sub-assemblies, including tanks, canopies, base frames, hardware kits, plenums, and other assigned parts.
• Read and comprehend \"A\" orders and work orders to understand assembly requirements and specifications.
• Identify all parts used on the assigned product line and determine their correct placement on the product.
• Identify and properly use power and hand tools required for the assigned product line.
• Perform a wide range of assembly functions using hand tools and power tools in a light industrial environment.
• Use work order information to identify parts and part descriptions accurately.
• Utilize information related to material gauging, dimensioning, and other specifications during assembly.
• Read and use rulers, tape measures, metal squares, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate assembly.
• Fasten parts together using bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, and other fasteners in accordance with assembly instructions.
• Work at different workstations as production needs require, maintaining flexibility across the assembly line.
• Collaborate as a member of an assembly team to build units to full completion.
• Perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Support production goals by meeting quality standards and output expectations.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical assembly in a light industrial environment.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to read and comprehend \"A\" orders and detailed work orders.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or assembly instructions.
• Skill in using measuring instruments such as rulers, tape measures, and metal squares.
• Experience with assembly, repair, and general labor tasks in a production or assembly line setting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform bending, twisting, and lifting from awkward positions or in tight spaces.
• Ability to push and pull cases ranging from approximately 200 pounds to 800 pounds repetitively.
• Capability to stand for extended periods, use hands to handle tools and materials, and communicate clearly.
• Ability to frequently walk and reach with hands and arms, and occasionally sit, stoop, and kneel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior assembly line experience in a mechanical or light industrial environment is highly beneficial.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, production work, and general labor tasks.
• Familiarity with electrical components or basic electrical assembly is a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to different workstations as production needs change.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliability and willingness to perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean manufacturing plant environment, specifically in Plant 2 at one of multiple locations. Work is performed on an assembly line and at various workstations, requiring regular standing, walking, reaching, and frequent physical activity such as lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy cases. The setting is light industrial, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. The facility maintains organized, clean conditions to support safe and efficient production.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
