Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients, notifying the appropriate provider and preparing the patient, room, and equipment for procedures and exams
• Take and record vital signs, and inform providers of patient concerns
• Recognize and treat emergency patients as a priority, assisting with examinations and treatments
• Handle patient situations over the phone, schedule appointments and procedures, and involve nursing staff and providers when needed
• Register new patients and establish medical records
• Prepare patient billings and assist patients with insurance and other forms
• Instruct patients in preparation for specific procedures
• Collect and process routine laboratory specimens, including drawing blood
• Operate and maintain clinical equipment, using aseptic technique for sterilization and disposal of contaminated materials
• Clean, wrap, and autoclave instruments, and care for supplies and equipment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through AMT, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with completion of a 12-month D-H apprenticeship program
• Pediatric experience required - please note on your resume
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Previous experience in an office or outpatient ambulatory care setting strongly preferred

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
