Senior Director, Commercial Markets - National Labor Office

Serve as principal deputy to the Vice President of Commercial Markets and provide executive leadership across Commercial Markets and National Labor Office portfolios Shape and execute division-wide strategy, translating organizational priorities into actionable plans Advise on complex business matters, support decision-making, and represent the VP and division in internal and external engagements Lead multi-year business plan development for Commercial Markets and National Labor Office segments Establish performance metrics, growth targets, and KPIs Anticipate market opportunities and implement solutions meeting BCBS Plan and market expectations Steward relationships with BCBS Plan senior leadership, NLO Board executives, Consortium Health Plans, and external industry stakeholders Facilitate governance, workgroups, and best-practice-sharing forums Represent BCBSA at board, committee, subcommittee, and external industry meetings Drive consensus and advance collaborative solutions Oversee product and solution development, including the UDS process and NLO market offerings Direct vendor management, actuarial and marketing strategy development, and operational processes Oversee budget development and financial management across both portfolios Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team Drive performance management, professional growth, inclusion, operational excellence, data accuracy, and continuous improvement Mentor emerging leaders and build organizational bench strength Requirements BS bachelor's degree in business management, Labor Relations, Liberal Arts, Economics, Public Policy, or Health Services Administration; or equivalent experience 12+ years of health insurance or related work experience Demonstrated leadership in commercial markets, labor/Taft-Hartley markets, and/or multi-market account management Prior Blue Cross Blue Shield, health care consulting, or group health plan purchasing experience strongly preferred Proven executive-level leadership skills Strategic thinking and business planning capabilities Relationship management experience with BCBS Plan senior leadership, NLO Board executives, Consortium Health Plans, and external industry stakeholders Track record of leading cross-functional teams, managing competing priorities, and delivering results on schedule and within budget Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong executive presence Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Performance management and talent development skills Ability to anticipate market opportunities, assess competitive implications, and implement solutions across multi-market portfolios Demonstrated AI literacy and understanding of generative AI tools, including appropriate business applications and limitations preferred Core Competencies Demonstrates executive leadership in Commercial Markets and National Labor Office portfolios, with a strong focus on strategic planning, relationship management, and performance metrics development.
