Licensed Practical Nurse (Day Shift)

General Description Renders general nursing care to inmate patients in a Correctional Facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques to promote the physical and mental health of the inmate population. Position subject to close at any time Night Shift Differential Pay applicable to this position. Essential Job Functions Perform nursing services such as obtaining vital signs, wound care, IV therapy, collecting specimens, responding to emergencies, and gathering data to meet clinical guidelines. Accurately document all data, treatments, and specimens; administer all medications and record on medication administration record. Order medications and supplies; evaluate patients upon request. Verify orders in the electronic medical record; maintain files and file necessary medical reports. Perform duties as assigned or required that are logically related to the position. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Florida LPN license. Current hands‑on CPR certification from AHA, ARC, or ASHI. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of normal nursing practices. Ability to work with people from all walks of life. Effective oral and written communication. Accurately follow complex medical orders. Knowledge of medications common in a correctional facility. Proficiency with software applications and record‑keeping. Basic office equipment operation. Professional, cooperative ethic and confidentiality. Physical Demand Requirements Medium physical demand. Maximum lifting 50 lbs; frequent lifting up to 25 lbs. Expressing or exchanging ideas orally or via hearing. Good eyesight for safety. Physical demands are more than light work.
