About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ACLS BLS NIHSS Neuro and Trauma Care experience Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. The unit consists of 44 beds and a staff of 95. Day shift staffing includes 2 CNC/Charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Night shift staffing includes 2 CNC/Charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are 4:1 on the grid and can be stretched to 5:1. Common equipment used in the unit includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. The skills most recruited for include required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Preferred skills include experience in Neuro and Trauma Care. Typical procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions. The ideal candidate is a team player and patient-focused. Weekend shifts will be every other weekend.
