Job TitleLocation: CountySupervisor: Director of Special EducationBudget Source: Federal and StateSalary: Based upon degree and years' experience plus $5,000.00 county supplementQualifications:Valid West Virginia Teaching CertificationApplied Behavior Analysis Certification RequiredSpecial Education certification/endorsement multi-cat and autism preferredSpecialized training in behavior management skills and experience in non-traditional programming is highly preferredAbility to effect positive behavior in disruptive students at all programmatic levels.Support Relationships:Works cooperatively with other teachers, principals, and aides under the supervision of the Director of Special Education to achieve excellence in instruction of "at risk" students leading to increased achievement consistent with the goals of the school system.Job Goal:To assist students and staff in acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for developing socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically to their fullest potential and for continued success in learning.Performance Responsibilities:Effectively support student acquisition of core curriculum identified by the State of West Virginia and Preston County Schools.Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents.Facilitate team meetings with identified student's teachers and parents for the purpose of completing Functional Behavior Assessments.Design behavior intervention plans, work with staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that affect development and implementation of interventions.Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which "at risk" students thrive: behavior instruction that is explicit and intensive.Collect data that will provide information related to student success.Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.Engage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavior support for all students, targeted students and students who represent sub-group populations.Serve as a consultant to administrators, teachers and parents.Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
