Java AWS Software Engineer

Salary: $42,500 - 70,500 per year Requirements:

• We need formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 3+ years of applied experience.
• We need hands-on coding experience in one or more programming languages, including Java.
• We need experience designing and implementing applications with Spring Boot.
• We need practical experience with AWS cloud technologies.
• We need experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database query languages.
• We need a strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
• We need demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We need a solid understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
• We need experience coaching engineers on safe and compliant adoption of AI-assisted practices.
• We need a solid grasp of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We need demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
• Preferred: We value experience designing and building scalable big data warehouses with Apache Spark, including ingestion, transformation, and optimization for large-scale datasets.
• Preferred: We value working knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker, as well as experience with Databricks for distributed data processing and analytics.
• Preferred: We value hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, EC2, and EMR, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and modern data lake technologies including Apache Iceberg.

• We develop code that aligns with the design, meets non-functional requirements, and follows coding standards and conventions.
• We create detailed unit test cases, carry out unit and integration testing, support QA and user acceptance testing, and handle ad hoc user queries.
• We practice test-driven development, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• We actively participate in peer reviews by assessing code quality, checking adherence to best practices, identifying defects, and providing constructive feedback.
• We drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply tools within the software development life cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value.
• We mentor and support junior developers through technical guidance, knowledge-sharing sessions, work reviews, and skill development.
• We analyze programs, troubleshoot production issues, and identify opportunities to improve performance tuning.
• We collaborate with regional and global team members across other locations.
• We maintain a good understanding of change management and release processes.
