Position Information Title: Associate Professor/Professor Department Chair, Population Health Management & Policy Position Number: 007602 Organizational Unit: Population Health Management and Policy, College of Health and Human Sciences, North Carolina A&T State University Position Overview The Department of Population Health Management & Policy (PHMP) within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University seeks a department Chair. The Chairperson is a 12‑month position reporting to the Dean and serves as the chief administrative and academic leader of the department. The Chairperson will provide visionary leadership of innovative programs with a strong educator‑researcher emphasis. Additional responsibilities include strategic planning, budget development, management and allocation; recruitment and retention of faculty and students; faculty, staff, and student development; improvement of curricula; evaluation of faculty performance; program assessments and reviews; accreditation maintenance; fundraising; and interaction with other departments and university leaders to represent the department’s goals. The Chairperson must implement strategies to increase recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of students in all degree programs and collaborate with faculty to develop research infrastructure. Work Arrangement This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement consistent with university and state policies. On‑site: Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on‑site. Qualifications A minimum of a PhD in Health Economics, Health Policy & Management, Health Services Research, or a closely related degree with a significant research track record aligned with appointment at associate or full professor rank. Prior teaching experience in relevant baccalaureate and/or graduate education. Three years of teaching and research experience related to the concepts and theories essential to population health management. Three years of experience in academic administration. Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise and have pedagogical skills to teach in areas such as healthcare economics, healthcare finance, data analytics, healthcare quality and patient safety, and health information management. Preferred Qualifications At least 5 years of teaching experience. At least 2 years of leadership experience. A demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external health care organizations. A demonstrated record of research and publications.
