Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Pediatrics PACU - Post Anesthetic Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 17 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary Pediatric Recovery Room Nurse (PACU Pediatrics) in Madison, Wisconsin This position involves providing specialized post-anesthetic care for pediatric patients in a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center. The nurse will be responsible for independently managing complex surgical and procedural inpatient and outpatient pediatric populations, ensuring safe and effective recovery. Job Details Position Description: Evening/Night shifts with 8, 10, or 12-hour options, from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am or 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, with flexibility. Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday with no on-call requirement. Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid compact RN license, minimum of 2 years pediatric post-anesthetic care unit (PACU) experience, Epic electronic medical record system experience, BLS (Basic Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, patient ratio experience, and charting experience with Epic. Additional Responsibilities: Providing care for neonates, adolescents, infants, and adults, with a daily census of approximately 25 patients. The role includes managing complex cases involving airway assessment, airway management, vascular access, Hemodynamic monitoring, and various surgical procedures. Certifications: BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association. Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week. Submission Requirements: Candidates must pass telemetry test prior to clearance to start, with two attempts allowed, achieving a score of 80% or higher, focusing on identification of lethal rhythms and heart blocks. Additional Information: The position requires float capabilities as needed, with a local radius rule of 50 miles, and the candidate must demonstrate required experience in acute care pediatric settings within the last three years.
