Senior Systems Reliability Engineer

Senior Systems Reliability Engineer | Location: Remote | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $80-$98

The Senior Systems Reliability Engineer will design, implement, and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable enterprise technology environments. This role integrates Systems Engineering, SRE, DevOps, and infrastructure automation to enhance system performance, resilience, and operational efficiency. The engineer will collaborate across technical teams to support continuous improvements, troubleshoot complex production issues, and participate in on-call rotations.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and maintains reliable, scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise infrastructure solutions.
• Applies Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, and Systems Engineering principles to optimize system performance and maintainability.
• Automates repetitive operational tasks to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitors systems proactively, participates in incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution to minimize service disruptions.
• Manages and tracks events, changes, problems, incidents, and service requests following established processes.
• Conducts post-incident reviews, identifies root causes, documents lessons learned, and implements corrective actions.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and ensure technical solutions meet those requirements.
• Communicates project status, risks, and technical recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
• Implements security best practices, proactively identifies vulnerabilities, and supports compliance with security standards.
• Performs within an Agile/SAFe environment, contributing to project delivery and technical decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 6-9+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Broad understanding of enterprise IT disciplines, including UNIX and Windows operating systems, networking, middleware, databases, and cloud technologies.
• Experience with automation technologies and infrastructure as code.
• Proven expertise in SRE, DevOps, or Systems Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to automate operational tasks and improve system reliability.
• Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortem processes.
• Strong understanding of IT security principles and secure operational practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience working in an Agile environment using SAFe methodology.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Supporting large-scale, highly available enterprise environments.
• Developing automation frameworks and solutions for infrastructure and operations.
• Supporting cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
• Experience presenting technical updates to senior leadership.
• Driving operational reliability initiatives and cross-functional projects.
