This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical accounts payable operations within a fast-growing technology environment. You will manage the full invoice-to-payment cycle while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong vendor relationships. The position plays an important role in month-end close, financial reporting support, and the integrity of financial data. You will work closely with Accounting, Procurement, and FP&A teams to resolve issues and keep financial processes running smoothly. Beyond day-to-day AP responsibilities, you will identify opportunities to improve automation, strengthen controls, and streamline workflows. The role is well suited to a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys autonomy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to building scalable, best-in-class payables processes within a distributed team.

Accountabilities

• Review, code, validate, and process vendor invoices in accordance with purchase orders, internal policies, and applicable accounting standards.
• Monitor the AP inbox, investigate invoice exceptions, and resolve issues such as missing purchase orders, duplicate invoices, and autopay entries.
• Maintain accurate vendor records, verify new vendor information including tax identification and banking details, and manage vendor inquiries and disputes professionally.
• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs through ACH, checks, and electronic transfers while ensuring appropriate authorization, accuracy, and timely payment.
• Reconcile the AP subledger to the general ledger and support month-end close by recording accruals for unbilled expenses, validating expense classifications, and assisting with P&L variance analysis.
• Identify and resolve synchronization or system errors between AP and ERP systems, including NetSuite or comparable platforms.
• Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation and support compliance activities, including 1099 reporting requirements where applicable.
• Partner with Procurement, Accounting, and FP&A to improve invoice workflows, coding accuracy, payment processes, and cross-functional financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase automation, efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls across the AP function.
• Adapt to evolving business priorities and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing full-cycle accounts payable processes in a professional finance or accounting environment.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly accruals, prepaids, expense recognition, and related accounting treatments.
• Experience working with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Intermediate Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic formulas.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling financial transactions, records, and reconciliations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and business teams.
• Familiarity with 1099 reporting requirements is an advantage.
• Experience with AP automation tools, system integrations, or finance process automation is preferred.
• Exposure to Procurement, FP&A, or broader cross-functional finance operations is beneficial.
• Experience working successfully in a remote or distributed team environment is an advantage.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing processes, responsibilities, and business requirements.
