Histotechnologist 2 Clinical

Organization: Histopathology - 3rd Shift Job Summary: Prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examinations and handles the more specialized histo- and immunocytochemical testing within the Dept of Anatomic Pathology under occasional guidance. Maintains quality control data, processes specimens for molecular testing, troubleshoots processes, and follows up as needed. Responsible for a high volume workload and stat requests. Key Responsibilities: Completes daily workload including embedding, cutting, staining (histo & immunocytochemical) and specific procedures requested by pathologist. Performs and documents instrument maintenance; maintains records for quality control. Trains and provides direction to Histotechnologists and Histotechnicians. Grossly identifies tissue for adequacy in the operating room, communicates to attending/fellow, divides core and places in appropriate fixatives. Additional duties may be assigned.
