Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent will purchase supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining efficient inventory levels.
OVERALL GOALS

Maintain professionalism while handling purchasing duties.

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all procedures and systems involved with purchasing.

General housekeeping as needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
•
Follow purchasing and inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within department to optimize work flow.
• Review market, price, delivery conditions and trends to determine present and future material sourcing.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to obtain optimal delivery, quality and price.
• Negotiate as needed to obtain optimal delivery, quality and price.
• Assist with compliance procedures in C-TPAT program.
• Assist in other duties and projects as assigned.
• Be aware of Aquafil's Recycling Guidelines and Environmental Management Systems Policy (see supervisor if further explanation is needed).
• Regular hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITY
• Communication - effectively and professionally conveys information internally and externally through verbal and written communication skills. Actively listens, communicates clearly, concisely and assures understanding.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Tools suite of programs.
• Experience in using SAP interface / systems preferred.
• Experience in warehouse management (parts management) systems preferred.
• Detail-oriented and organized, able to work in a fast-pace environment and meet deadlines. Prioritizes and plans work and uses time efficiently. Functions as a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Problem solving-identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
• Customer service-manages difficult situations, responds promptly to internal and external customer needs and meets commitments. Exhibits strong interpersonal techniques, is positive, respectful and customer focused.
• Quality control-demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance. Proven ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out written and oral instructions.
• Dependability-consistently at work and on time, follows instructions and responds to management direction.

• Safety and security-observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly. Ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions which are posted in English.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
•
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in business is preferred.
•
2 or more years of experience with proven results working in a purchasing, planning, accounting or customer service business environment.
•
Working knowledge of email, internet and Microsoft Office Software.
•
Valid GA Driver's license with safe driving history.
•
Satisfactory results of criminal background check resulting in no convictions related to the essential skills of the position, to include ability to perform the job in an ethical, safe and secure manner.
