Lead Software Engineer - ML/Data Platform

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
• Experience designing infrastructure for large-scale machine learning deployments using tools such as Terraform or AWS Infrastructure as Code
• Experience creating metrics and configuring AWS CloudWatch monitors and alarms for infrastructure and application performance
• Experience with data lakes such as Amazon S3 and data warehouses such as AWS Redshift
• Experience using AWS services and CI/CD pipelines to deploy and maintain machine learning applications
• Skills in data manipulation, structuring, design flow, and query optimization using SQL and Python
• Experience processing large datasets with data containers, multithreading, and multiprocessing in PySpark and TensorFlow
• Experience using AWS Kinesis and Firehose for large-scale data ingestion and AWS Glue for ETL
• Experience developing and automating high-performance, large-scale data processing systems
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for tasks such as coding, code review, testing, and troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; ability to coach engineers in safe, compliant adoption
• Familiarity with recent large language model technologies and systems built with them
• Familiarity with LLM tools such as LangChain or Haystack

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software
• Build data pipelines to ingest and transform large volumes of data
• Feed processed data into machine learning model pipelines and store results in data warehouses and data lakes
• Design and implement end-to-end machine learning pipelines, from data input through serving outputs to large user bases
• Deploy complete systems into production environments
• Resolve production issues within a five-hour SLA
• Develop new features and maintain product code to support system performance and reliability
• Lead team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Establish consistent validation practices, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and encourage reuse of effective approaches across the team
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value delivered by automation
