Payroll Specialist

SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. This position will support weekly payroll processing for our temporary workforce and provide general accounting support to the Director of Accounting. The ideal candidate is reliable, knowledgeable in payroll regulations and deductions, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment across multiple states. Flexibility is important, as this role may require additional hours during weeks when the Director of Accounting is out of the office.
SCHEDULE
Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm
In Office
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process weekly payroll for temporary employees accurately and on schedule
- Calculate and manage deductions including healthcare and 401(k) contributions
- Ensure payroll compliance across multiple states
- Assist with general bookkeeping and support the Director of Accounting with various accounting functions
- Provide additional coverage during weeks when the Director of Accounting is out, including increased hours as needed
- Maintain and update payroll records and reports as needed
- Provide support during audits or compliance reviews
- Stay informed of relevant labor laws; familiarity with wage and hour regulations is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, benefit deductions, and tax regulations
- Experience with QuickBooks Online required.
- Experience with Avionte Bold/Classic a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
- Flexible hours and days.
