Oracle Database Administrator - Performance Tuning Boston, MA | Hybrid (3 days onsite) | Contract-to-Hire About the Role We're looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator with strong expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and scripting to support large-scale, mission-critical Oracle environments. In this role, you'll help optimize database performance, automate operational processes, support high-availability environments, and contribute to modernization initiatives including Oracle Exadata and cloud infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Oracle DBA who enjoys solving complex problems and improving the reliability and efficiency of enterprise database platforms. What You'll Do Administer, monitor, and support Oracle 19c database environments. Diagnose and resolve complex performance issues through SQL tuning, execution plan analysis, trace file analysis, indexing, and query optimization. Develop automation using KornShell (KSH), Shell scripting, PL/SQL, and SQL to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes. Perform database maintenance including patching, upgrades, cloning, migrations, backup, and recovery. Support Oracle RAC environments and contribute to migration initiatives involving Oracle Exadata. Configure and maintain Oracle GoldenGate for data replication. Monitor database health, availability, and performance and respond to production incidents and operational requests. Troubleshoot database issues and perform root-cause analysis in a highly standardized enterprise environment. Partner with application, infrastructure, and engineering teams to improve database reliability and operational processes. Support Oracle environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. What You Bring 10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience in enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c. Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills. Strong database performance tuning experience, including: SQL execution plans Query optimization Trace file analysis Indexing strategies Hands-on KornShell (KSH) or Shell scripting experience. Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with technical teams and stakeholders. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Nice to Have Oracle RAC Oracle Exadata Oracle GoldenGate Python scripting Cloud database experience with OCI, AWS, or Azure ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms Oracle ZFS and Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA) Why Join?
