Senior Accountant
Location: New Haven CT
Work Arrangement: Onsite
A well-established and growing organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team in New Haven CT area. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong accounting foundation who wants broader exposure within a large multi-entity organization.
The Senior Accountant will be involved in the monthly close journal entries account reconciliations fixed assets leases tax-related activities and general accounting support. The position will also work closely with other areas of the business and participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Manage accounting for fixed assets and leases
- Assist with sales and tax-related reporting and compliance
- Provide accounting support related to pricing invoicing and transaction coding
- Support Accounts Payable and other general accounting activities as needed
- Partner with internal departments to research and resolve financial questions
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes procedures and internal controls
- Work collaboratively with the broader accounting and finance team to meet reporting deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- 2 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with month-end close journal entries and account reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Comfortable working with multiple financial systems and large amounts of data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with different departments and business partners
Preferred Experience
- Experience within a larger multi-entity or multi-location organization
- Manufacturing experience is a plus but not required
- Exposure to ERP and financial reporting systems
- Experience with tools such as Power BI Oracle Hyperion OneStream JD Edwards or similar platforms is helpful
