Professional Staff Nurse, Heart Institute

UPMC Hamot is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse to join our Heart Institute team! If you're passionate about providing exceptional patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment. This position is full-time, Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm. Two years of previous nursing experience highly preferred. Purpose The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse is a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession. Responsibilities Participates in quality improvement initiatives and promotes evidence-based practice to enhance patient care and satisfaction. Identifies opportunities for clinical and operational improvements and shares recommendations with colleagues and leadership. Builds and maintains positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, providers, leaders, and support staff. Demonstrates strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effectively manages multiple priorities in a complex healthcare environment. Educates and supports patients, families, students, new staff, and colleagues using adult learning principles. Encourages open communication, feedback, continuous learning, and professional growth. Develops and coordinates individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients and physicians. Assists with patient assessment, evaluation, education, triage, and care coordination. Identifies and addresses clinical, social, psychological, safety, and spiritual patient care needs. Communicates patient information effectively and maintains comprehensive documentation. Supports patient safety, quality, and satisfaction initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Creates a compassionate, patient-centered care experience. Demonstrates accountability for professional development and ongoing improvement of patient care. Participates in shared governance, goal setting, and change management initiatives. Collaborates effectively as an engaged member of the care team and provides support when needed. Adapts to change and demonstrates flexibility in a dynamic environment.
