Position Overview This role involves applying safe food handling practices along with infection control and sanitation standards to ensure high-quality food service for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include meal assembly, portion control, and food delivery, with a focus on excellent interpersonal communication. The position may also support nutrition care across all age groups and handle cash transactions. Key Responsibilities
All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Pacific Northwest coastal communities.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
- Prepare and portion meals according to dietary guidelines and patient prescriptions.
- Deliver meal trays to patient rooms or designated areas.
- Follow all regulatory requirements related to food preparation and service.
- Manage inventory and coordinate orders to ensure adequate food and supply levels.
- Perform cashier duties including cash reconciliation and report generation.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for new staff, providing training and support during orientation and cross-training.
- Promote teamwork and support initiatives aimed at enhancing patient and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to measure liquids accurately for modified diets.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to handle trays and dishes efficiently.
- Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitation standards.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English instructions, menus, and recipes.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Clerical skills for processing paperwork and handling money.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Food Handler card required within six months of employment.
