This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for negotiated and hard-bid projects, while supporting preconstruction, operations, and business development teams. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for negotiated and hard-bid projects, while supporting preconstruction, operations, and business development teams. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, aviation, and institutional projects
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract requirements to determine project scope
- Perform quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, devices, panels, lighting, gear, and related electrical systems
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure scope coverage and competitiveness
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs using historical data and industry benchmarks
- Identify risk, value engineering opportunities, alternates, and cost-saving strategies during preconstruction
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and operations teams to align estimates with execution plans
- Participate in bid reviews, turnover meetings, and preconstruction handoffs
- Support change-order pricing and conceptual budgeting as needed
- Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and bid documentation
- Comply with company estimating standards, safety policies, and quality procedures
- 3-7+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial or industrial construction
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, means and methods, and construction sequencing
- Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (Accubid)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Solid understanding of labor productivity, material pricing, and market conditions
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Experience estimating large-scale electrical projects ($5M+ electrical scope)
- Familiarity with negotiated work, design-assist, and preconstruction services
- Knowledge of Texas and Houston-area construction markets
- Electrical field experience or apprenticeship background is a plus
