Quick Facts: Location: Dickinson, ND Start Date: 06/20/2026 Duration: Multiple periods starting from June 2026, ongoing as needed Shift: Scheduled M-F; Emergency needs 24/7 Hours/Week: Varies by schedule Employment Type: Locum/Contract Licensure/Certs: ND Medical License, Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery Experience: Minimum X years in General Surgery, preferred experience with Trauma Level IV facilities Pay & Benefits: Pay package discussed upon application Weekly pay via direct deposit Competitive rates with on-call, holiday, and callback differential pay Comprehensive medical benefits (W-2 employment) Paid sick time per applicable laws Reimbursements for licensure, certifications, travel, and other eligible expenses Robust referral bonus program 24/7 dedicated support team from VHS What You ll Do: Provide general surgery services including abdominal, endoscopy, liver, stomach, gallbladders, appendix, colon, laparoscopy, and spleen procedures Manage urgent and emergent cases, including phone consults, admissions, and rounding on surgical patients Cover scheduled surgeries Monday through Friday and emergent 24/7 call duties Collaborate with anesthesia providers and hospital team for patient care Ensure timely response to emergency calls within 20 minutes Maintain high standards of patient safety and quality care What You Need: Valid medical license in North Dakota Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery Proven experience in general surgical procedures Strong communication skills and ability to work independently during unassigned hours Additional preferred skills: Pediatrics, Thyroid, Pulmonary, Vascular (not required) About the Assignment: Join a busy Level IV trauma hospital with 25 beds serving an average daily census of 15. The facility provides scheduled surgical procedures Monday through Friday, with 24/7 emergency surgical coverage. The successful candidate will assist with phone consults, admissions, and rounding no supervisory responsibilities for APPs. Anesthesia services are supplied by CRNA group.
