Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience License: Valid state license required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS Must-Have: - Current acute care experience in PCU specialty - Patient age group experience with adults and geriatrics Description: We are looking for a Registered Nurse specializing in PCU for a busy surgical oncology unit. This unit cares for both PCU and medical-surgical patients. The staffing goal is a 1:4 ratio, but may occasionally reach 1:5. Weekend shifts may vary based on unit needs with no guaranteed scheduling. All staff may require floating within their scope of practice as needed. Self-scheduling requests should be submitted for preferred scheduling visibility. The first week will involve daytime orientation followed by on-unit training with a preceptor. Patients will present with diagnoses including: - Surgical oncology: breast, thyroid, melanoma - Hepatobiliary cancers: liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract - Colorectal cancers: colon, rectal - Reconstructive breast cancer, sarcoma Special procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and managing oncologic emergencies. Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and minimizing patient falls is essential. Previous charge experience and ability to work with computerized charting systems is required. Skills needed include BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac telemetry, and dysrhythmia management. This position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment, catering to a diverse patient population.
